Carlos Augusto Alves Santana (born July 20, 1947), known simply as Carlos Santana or Santana, is a Grammy Award-winning Mexican-born American Latin rock musician and guitarist.
He became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band, the Santana Blues Band, going mostly under the title "Santana," which created a highly successful blend of salsa, rock, blues, and jazz fusion. Their sound featured his often high-pitched and distorted guitar lines set against Latin American instrumentation such as timbales and congas. Santana continued to work in these forms over the following decades, and experienced a sudden resurgence of popularity and critical acclaim in the late 1990s.
Over his career he has sold an estimated 80 million albums worldwide.

Eddie Van Halen - Live Guitar Solo

Eddie Van Halen's approach to the guitar involves several distinctive components. His innovative use of two-handed tapping, natural and artificial harmonics, vibrato, and tremolo picking - combined with rhythmic sensibility and a melodic approach - have influenced an entire generation of guitarists.
Eddie Van Halen - Live Guitar Solo
Whilst relatively commonplace today, Van Halen's ground breaking techniques were originally a closely guarded secret; before the release of the band's eponymous first album, the guitarist would often play solos and more complex riffs with his back to the live audience. This was done at the advice of his bandmates to prevent any guitar players from stealing his style and technique before the album came out in 1978

Joe Satriani _ Some Basic Lead Guitar Techniques

Fans of instrumental electric guitar music widely laud him as the most lyrical and soulful of contemporary rock guitarists, with an eye and an ear for a good tune and, more recently, an emphasis on emotion over technique. Since 1998 his albums have been, stylistically speaking, a departure from his earlier style, delving into simpler, more widely accessible genres. Satriani has maintained a large fan base throughout the world, buoyed largely by the lasting influence of his earlier albums.
His success is notable in a genre typically unfriendly to instrumental musicians. Satriani has received 14 Grammy nominations, and he has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide.
Satriani has endorsed Ibanez's JS Series guitars, and Peavey's JSX amplifier. Both lines were designed specifically as signature products for Satriani

How To Read Guitar Tab
Guitar tab consists of a series of horizontal lines forming a staff (or stave) similar to standard notation. Each line represents one of the instrument's strings therefore standard guitar tab has a six-line staff and bass guitar tab has four lines. The top line of the tablature represents the highest pitched string of the guitar. By writing tablature with the lowest pitched notes on the bottom line and the highest pitched notes on the top line of the tablature follows the same basic structure and layout of Western Standard Notation.
The following examples are labelled with letters on the left denoting the string names, with a lower-case "e" for the high E string. Tab lines may be numbered 1-6 instead, representing standard string numbering, where "1" is the high E string, "2" is the B string etc.
The numbers that are written on the lines represent the fret used to obtain the desired pitch. For example, the number 3 written on the top line of the staff indicates that the player should press down at the third fret on the high E (first string). Number 0 denotes the nut - that is, an open string.
For chords, a letter above or below the tab staff denotes the root note of the chord.
Examples of guitar tab notation:
The chords E, F, and G:
e|---0---1---3---
B|---0---1---0---
G|---1---2---0---
D|---2---3---0---
A|---2---3---2---
E|---0---1---3---
E F G
Various lines, arrows and other symbols are used to denote bends, hammer-ons, trills, Pull-offs, slides, and so on.
Guitar tab is not standardised and different sheet music publishers adopt different conventions. Songbooks and guitar magazines usually include a legend setting out the convention in use.

Joe Satriani - Surfing with the Alien - Best Guitar Instrumental

Satriani is widely recognized as a technically highly advanced rock guitarist. He has mastered many performance techniques on the instrument, including two-handed tapping, sweep-picking, volume swells, harmonics, and extreme whammy bar effects. One of his trademark compositional traits is the use of Pitch Axis Theory which he applies with a variety of modes. Satriani approaches scales and soloing differently. Instead of practicing his scales in positions he practices his scales one string at a time. He calls this technique ‘linear scales’. Satriani falls into the category of guitar virtuosos who primarily achieve speed through hammer-ons and pull-offs (like Allan Holdsworth), as opposed to guitarists who include lines with very rapid alternate picking of every note in their playing (like Al Di Meola, Yngwie Malmsteen,or Michael Angelo Batio).
Satriani has endorsed Ibanez's JS Series guitars, and Peavey's JSX amplifier. Both lines were designed specifically as signature products for Satriani.

At the age of 10 he took his mother's maiden name Malmsteen as his surname, and Anglicised his given name Yngve to "Yngwie".

Death
Harrison's cancer recurred in 2001 and was found to have metastasized. Despite very aggressive treatment, it was soon found to be terminal. He set about getting his affairs in order and spent his final months with his family and close friends. He also worked on songs for an album with his son Dhani, which was released after his death.
Harrison died in a Hollywood Hills mansion that was once leased by McCartney and was previously owned by Courtney Love. (Reuters reported that the house had been leased in the name of Gavin de Becker, a security consultant working for Harrison).
During an interview on the Larry King show on CNN during 2007, Paul McCartney described how he had visited Harrison on his death bed and demonstrated how he had sat silently next to Harrison while stroking Harrison's hand to comfort him. The interview can be seen on YouTube.
Harrison died on 29 November 2001. He was 58 years old. Harrison's death was ascribed to lung cancer that had metastasised to the brain. He was cremated and, although it was widely reported that his ashes were scattered in the Ganges River, the ceremony was not conducted at the expected time. The actual disposition of the ashes has not been publicly disclosed.
After his death, the Harrison family released the following statement: "He left this world as he lived in it: conscious of God, fearless of death and at peace, surrounded by family and friends. Harrison had often said, "Everything else can wait, but the search for God cannot wait; and love one another."
Harrison and Aaliyah made UK chart history when they scored the first (and so far the only) pair of back-to-back posthumous number one hits as Aaliyah's "More than a Woman" (released on 7 January 2002 and topped the chart on 13 January 2002) was followed by Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" (re-released on 14 January 2002 and topped the chart on 20 January 2002).
Harrison's final album, Brainwashed, was completed by Dhani Harrison and Jeff Lynne and released on 18 November 2002. It received generally positive reviews in the United States, and peaked at #18 on the Billboard charts. A media-only single, "Stuck Inside a Cloud", was heavily played on UK and U.S. radio to promote the album (#27 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart), while the official single "Any Road", released in May 2003, reached #37 on the British chart.

About The Ten-String Guitar
The construction of guitars with more than six strings is not a new idea. From the lutes of the Renaissance and Baroque eras, to the Romantic guitars of the European 19th century, until the present, virtuosi and composers for these instruments have all been an important part of the evolution of the multi-stringed guitar.
Implementation of the modern ten-string is credited to the internationally acclaimed Spanish classical guitarist, Maestro Narciso Yepes. (1927-1997). Maestro Yepes collaborated with the Spanish luthier, Jose Ramirez, for the construction of the first contemporary classical guitar adding four extra bass strings. It was premiered in 1964 with the Berlin Philharmonic with Narciso Yepes performing the Concerto de Aranjuez. Today, there are many luthiers who construct multi-string guitars worldwide. Narciso Yepes' technical innovations and development of repertoire for this instrument has propelled this instrument into the 21st Century.
