SCORPIONS _ Acoustica _ Heavy Metal Acoustic Concert

113 min
Acoustica is a 2001 unplugged album by German hard rock (heavy metal) band Scorpions.
Acoustica was recorded during three concerts, at Convento do Beato, Lisbon, Portugal. It was a most unusual set for the band, as Klaus Meine comments on the DVD. The band was backed up by a bunch of extra musicians like backing vocalists, percussionist, extra guitarist and Christian Kolonovits (who had worked with the band as conductor and arranger on the Moment of Glory album) on keyboards. He also collaborated on rearranging the songs for the acoustic set. Four new songs were performed: "Life Is Too Short", "When Love Kills Love", "Back To You" and "I Wanted To Cry". All the new songs were featured on the DVD, while "Back To You" was not included on the CD. Another unusual thing that can be observed on Acoustica are the performances of cover versions of famous songs like The Cars' "Drive", Kansas' "Dust In The Wind" and the Queen hit "Love Of My Life".
The album went gold in Brazil, and the DVD went platinum.

Hail Mark J:

Great new blog, and your guitar techinique video rocks. Not a guitar player myself, I have two guitar students living in my house (in other words, two of my kids) both of which can really benefit from your cool technique exposition.

Also love your topic, Scorpions Acoustica. That's what led me to your blog, here. We spent an enjoyable evening last week viewing YouTube videos of all the songs you mention above being performed during those 3 concerts at Lisboa / Lisbon. The endless variety of "exotic" guitars and acoustic skills of Matthias Jabs and Rudolph Schenker keep one riveted. Klaus Meine, Christian Kolonovitz, drummer James Kottak and the other (many guest) musicians are in fine, fine order, too, of course. Such an incredible treat to watch/hear. You can see them all here, Dust in the Wind, the Cars' song "Drive", the four new Scorps songs, even the song that doesn't appear on the CD. View Scorpions Acoustica live in Lisboa
