St. Anger is the eighth studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica. Released on June 5, 2003, this album marks the longest time span between studio albums from Metallica, with the nearly six years between the release of ReLoad and St. Anger. The album was originally intended for release on June 10, 2003, but was instead released five days earlier due to fear of music piracy over filesharing networks.

St. Anger is the first Metallica album since Master of Puppets not to feature long-time bassist Jason Newsted, due to his departure from the band prior to the recording of the album. Afraid to start recording too soon with a new bassist, producer Bob Rock performed bass on St. Anger. After the recording of the album was over, Metallica hired Robert Trujillo as the band's new bassist. He went on a nearly two-year tour with Metallica in support of the album. Recording initially started in January 2001, but was postponed indefinitely because singer and rhythm guitarist James Hetfield entered rehab for alcoholism and other undefined addictions. St. Anger also marks the last collaboration between Metallica and Bob Rock. Rick Rubin produced Metallica's follow-up to the album, titled Death Magnetic, released in 2008.

Track listing
1972 original film
"Intro Song"
"Echoes, Part 1" (from Meddle, 1971)
"Careful with That Axe, Eugene" (b-side of "Point Me At The Sky" single, 1968)
"A Saucerful of Secrets" (from A Saucerful of Secrets, 1968)
"One of These Days" (from Meddle, 1971)
"Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" (from A Saucerful of Secrets, 1968)
"Mademoiselle Nobs" (from Meddle, 1971 previously known as "Seamus")
"Echoes, Part 2" (from Meddle, 1971)

The performances of "Echoes," "A Saucerful of Secrets," and "One of These Days" were filmed from October 4, 1971 to October 7, 1971. The remaining songs were filmed in a Paris studio, along with additional front projection footage for insertion into the Pompeii performances. The sequences in Paris were filmed in late 1971/early 1972, and can be distinguished by the absence of Richard Wright's beard. This version was released in theaters in September 1972 and is also included on the DVD edition as an extra feature. In August 1974, another version was released combining the original film with supposed recording sessions of The Dark Side of the Moon at Abbey Road Studios. These sessions were actually staged for the film, as the recording of the album had been completed when these sessions were filmed in January 1973 and the band was mixing the album at the time.

Symphony X - Gigantour 2005 - Progressive metal bands

Symphony X - Gigantour 2005 - Progressive metal bands
11.35 min
Symphony X is an American progressive metal band founded in New Jersey in 1994 by guitarist Michael Romeo. Their 1997 album The Divine Wings of Tragedy and their 2000 release V: The New Mythology Suite have given the band considerable attention within the progressive metal community. Musically, Symphony X is often compared to other progressive metal bands such as Dream Theater and Fates Warning. They play in complex timings and odd meters while incorporating elements of symphonic metal and more traditional heavy metal into their sound. Their music also contains strong neo-classical elements reminiscent of Yngwie Malmsteen, Cacophony, Randy Rhoads, and other neo-classical metal artists.

ToTo - Live in Africa Johannesburg - Top Jazz Rock Music Concerts

ToTo - Live in Africa Johannesburg - Rock music concerts
Toto was an American rock band founded in 1977 by some of the most popular and experienced session musicians of the era. The band enjoyed great commercial success in the 1980s, beginning with the band's self-titled debut, released in 1978, which immediately brought the band into the mainstream rock spectrum of the time. Continuing with 1982's critically acclaimed and commercially successful Toto IV, Toto became one of the biggest selling music groups of their era. They also composed the theme music for the film Dune. Although their popularity in the United States diminished in the 1990s and 2000s, they continued to tour and sold out arenas, clubs, and theaters internationally.

Toto was known for their technical prowess in the studio, as well as a musical style that combines elements of pop, rock, soul, funk, progressive rock, hard rock, R&B, and jazz, and although they were regularly associated with the soft rock genre, and particularly the neo-progressive rock genre, this broad array of musical styles helped them appeal to a variety of musicians and non-musician listeners. The band released 17 albums and have sold over 30 million records to date. Their 18th release Falling In Between Live, was released in August 2007. It had been recorded in March 2007 in Paris. As a result of guitarist Steve Lukather's departure from the band, Toto broke up after the last leg of their 2008 tour.

Palm Muting Technique - Free guitar lessons techniques

Palm Muting Technique - Free guitar lessons techniques
Palm muting can be used to add a different sound to your playing and is commonly used.
To palm mute the right hand should be held on the strings as close to the bridge as possible as you play.
The tablature notation for palm mute is 'P.M' placed above the tab.
Notice the way it is only above the first 2 power chords. This means that only the first two should be palm muted and the others should be played normally.

Legendary hard rock / metal guitarist Michael Schenker celebrates his 25th anniversary as a recording artist on this 2005 DVD release. Born on January 10, 1955 in Sarstedt, Germany, truly he is one of the chief architects of hard rock and heavy metal and remains a vital guitarist and songwriter.
The Michael Schenker Story Live, Michael Schenker assembled a new band, comprised of former members of Mannequin, Yngwie Malmsteen's backing group, and Great King Rat. His intention was to retrace the progression of his career from UFO to MSG by hitting all of the highlights in front of a Japanese audience. More force designed for hardcore Schenker fans, since anyone else will find the ceaseless soloing a little indulgent. Still, the album scores points for demonstrating how consistent his music was throughout the years, as well as for showcasing some first-class soloing by Schenke.
